Over the past five years, I've worked in the 0→1 space transforming e-commerce websites to increase conversion, solve complexity, and improve accessibility. I've been a design partner to founders helping them craft MVPs, navigate engineering requirements, and assess trade-offs for rapid execution. As the Principal Designer at Darkroom Studios, I lead UI/UX and brand design engagements that propel startups toward their next stage of growth.
My design approach combines art and science to produce intuitive interfaces that drive growth. I focus on shipping fast with high craft so that we can iterate and focus resources where it matters.
My Approach to Design, Explained
I’m big on consistency. While clients vary widely in industry and requirements, below are the core principles I uphold each time I approach design.
Design for real-world impact.
Great design threads the needle between craft and constraints. Operate with a deep understanding of business goals, user needs, and technical realities so ideas actually ship.
Build with AI, not around it.
When building 0→1, every decision has a cost. Use AI to surface insights earlier and validate assumptions faster. Sweat the details that matter but automate the rest.
Decrease time to magic.
That first win should feel effortless. Strip anything away that slows users down. Make the "aha" moment feel fast, obvious, and frictionless so that we build trust instantly.
Make smart trade-offs.
Each project has unique limitations so take stock of what decisions will move the needle most. Be intentional with trade-offs to get more shots on goal.
Bring strong beliefs, loosely held.
Be confident in perspectives informed by experience. But always seek data and insights to inform a better solution. When we have to, start with a clear bet on user behavior and build in room to pivot.
